HATS: Home to School Transport

At the Health and Transport Services (HATS) Group, one of our most important ongoing commitments is providing special educational needs and mainstream home to school transport for children.

HATS are dedicated to delivering the best and most effective experience possible when it comes to home to school transport, operating in more than twenty Local Authorities and Shires within Greater London. Our services provide a safe and reliable means of transport for those currently in education.

HATS Henry Bilinski School TransportOperating a large range of vehicles – including saloon cars, MPVs and 14, 16, and 24 seat buses – our home to school fleet is fully equipped; led by a team of highly experienced staff. All our vehicles are staffed by qualified PCO (Public Carriage Office) licensed and PSV (Public Service Vehicle) qualified staff whose extensive training includes Appointed Persons Training, Handling and Lifting, Client Care, Health and Safety and Safeguarding and Incident Reporting. All of our PSV drivers also receive MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training, of which HATS is an accredited trainer though the Community Transport Association.

Alongside employee training on our school transport services we also provide Passenger Assistants on a number of different routes. Our Passenger Assistants are highly experienced and have specialist training to help aid those using home to school transport.

Operating from eight strategically placed depots and offices – providing maximum coverage within the London area – our SEN (Special Educational Needs) team co-ordinates with the Local Authority staff to ensure a smooth and effective service.

At HATS, we are very pleased that we can continue to deliver such a safe and reliable network for such an important cause. And with the success of our home to school transport network, I personally look forward to many more years providing excellent services.

HATS Hold First Annual Family Open Day

At the Healthcare and Transport Services (HATS) Group, we take our position within the local community very seriously. And whenever we can, we try to help give back to those that have used our facilities in the past. Last month we hosted an Open Day in our South East London office where friends, families and staff were invited to join us to learn more about the work we do at HATS.

Designed to raise awareness of children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), our open day – which took place on the 19th of July – was a great opportunity to show the continued support provided by both HATS and others within the community. The day consisted of training modules in regards to children with special educational needs, ambulance rides and a host of other fun activities and attractions which included face painting, arts and crafts, a BBQ and bouncy castle.

Dedicated to Grace Ejiro

A memorable day, the open event was also dedicated to the memory of Grace Ejiro, a Passenger Assistant who was based at our Penrose Street depot Grace, loved by all who met her, was tragically taken from us the previous week. A service held on the day was delivered by the Chaplin of LB Southwark. Grace’s family were the guests of honour, and a Book of Condolences was made available.

Annual Event

After the success of the occasion, I’m delighted to announce that here at HATS, we intend to make the open day an annual summer event, with yet more attractions planned For more information and details about patient transport please feel free to visit the HATS Group’s website.
